I've called Caufield an overpayment that has potentially to be a decent contract (something that is currently true) and I've said Josh Anderson, Sean Monahan and Joel Edmunson weren't worth a 1st each (2/3 were correct and the other was the biggest overpayment this TDL)

Why should our top 2 defenceman be outproducing PLD? There's more to hockey than offense. Anyways, the Habs wouldn't want 8.5 of PLD, we're very happy with our core. We also arguably have 5 better skaters than PLD. Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Matheson. Then you add Newhook (8 less points than PLD and has played 27 less games), Dach (if he could stay healthy), Guhle has been very good too.

You’re asking the wrong question. The question should be: Would Dubois be worth $8.5M to Montreal, where presumably he would be playing higher in the lineup? You could argue that he would help them now, and they could fit him under the cap by using more LTIR allowance, but this is an 8-year contract. If the team continues to improve and their young players develop the way they hope, it won’t be long before they’ll have better ways to spend that money. I’m sure there’s a bit of sour grapes in some of the comments we’re seeing from Habs fans, but I agree with them. They’re probably better off without him and his 8x$8.5M contract.

PLD is the perfect player to be tutored by Kopitar. This trade will eventually be viewed as the time when the Kings got "their" guy and the Jets got pieces.
