(1) I think Brodie has a good chance of getting moved considering Treliving tried to get rid of him twice (second attempt was successful). He tried to trade Brodie in the Kadri deal then let him walk the following season

There are two reasons Brodie is valuable. One is that he's really good at hockey. The best defensive d-man the Leafs have. Add somebody like Hanifin to help him and you suddenly have a pretty good looking group. I see no reason to dump him somewhere, this rumour is insane. The other reason is that he has a high salary that's expiring. You will need that space for next year to resign Matthews and Nylander. Adding multiple long-term UFA's bogs your cap down and makes it harder to do that. Bad idea.
