And to be fair 90% of the flyers fans in here have realistic expectations and I have no issues with the fan base itself. That article was one of the worst I've ever read in my life.

This is super ironic because Fansided, as the name would suggest, is an outlet that publishes articles written by fans. Whoever wrote that article isn't a beat writer, they're a Flyer's fan, and that's probably why they don't know what they're talking about (not inherently because they're a fan of the flyers, but like your average fan of any team is not going to have super great league awareness and/or will always overvalue their own players).

A real beat writer that makes a living like O'Connor or Carchidi would probably have a more informed view.

Of course they are! Fansided is just fans of the team that are moonlighting as beat writers, rarely are they the kind of people who have any sort of deeper connection to even the organization they cover, let alone an organization in a different division. Not real sports journalism. They just do what we do here in an article format

(which isn't to say like people shouldn't blog about teams they like but by necessity you're going to get out of touch people in there)
