Why would the Canucks give you the younger, and better player with 0 cap savings? Attach a 2023 first

Shorter contract allows for more cap flexibility, better defensive player with virtually identical points last season

Pretty much a change of scenery deal

Goal scoring difference compensated with a 3rd

Not necessarily, Granlund was a 60 point player a season ago

Nope. Granlund is VERY BAD. He SUCKS defensively. Where did that misconception come from? Garland is miles better defensively. Garland also drives play more than Granlund. Canucks are not going to trade the much younger player for a measely 3rd. Again, attach a 2023 first

And now he is 31 and has fallen off a cliff. Terrible for Vancouver

Right, which is why Garland is rumored to be on the move

Think you'll be disappointed by the return

Not anymore. Canucks have 10+ mil in cap space after the OEL buyout. Even if the Canucks were to trade Garland, it would be to save cap space. This does the opposite of that. Trading Garland for an older, worse player who is slightly more expensive simply makes 0 sense. Come on, use some logic

His offensive play driving numbers went down a lot. Garland was playing 3rd line minutes for 4th line caliber players

Why does a "change of scenery" trade need to happen? Garland is literally better, younger, and cheaper. Why would they want to give him a change of scenery if it means downgrading in pretty much every single category

So was Granlund?

Granlund got 2.7 minutes more ice time per game. So no, not "so was Granlund".

That's a question for the rumor mill

I think you're being subjective on the downgrade

Is that why reports stated the trade got mocked by other GMs?

He played most of his season in Nashville. He still got more icetime than Garland in Pittspurgh

That is a pass for Canucks.
Granlund is 4 years older than Garland.

Pens buy out Granlund
Garland is a dump and needs a 3rd to move
There is no reason for Van to trade Gran for Gar

Garland is a good player. With the OEL buyout they don't need to trade him for pennies on the dollar now

I think it makes more sense then people think. Change or scenery for both players. Van fans on here were dumping him anyways. I know things may have changed after today but still think this deal makes sense
