Toronto wants more that that and 2 years of Marner doesn't help the Jets and isn't worth that to Winnipeg.

Winnipeg and Toronto are in similar boats in terms of their core, failed playoff appearances. Your going to lose the Marner trade irregardless of the return on paper...
I don't know how much more Toronto can expect in return for 16, we've just seen that clearly a 100pt guy isn't required to win (Chandler Stephenson VGK 65in81). I think teams are slowly moving away from the production aspect and more the playoff / intangibles factor.
Just my take!

Very well stated. You're a Leafs fan? Wow. Impressive. Most Leafs fans seem to think that Marner is beyond every player on the Jets combined.

VGK has definitely proved again, that it's a team game that battling gamers need to play, not just great point producing players.

hes also a selke level defender though thats elite on the PK. Stone and Eichel are also stars that can put up ppg. they dont win without those 2. depth is very important. but you need stars to win, the depth doesnt matter if there isnt stars

Flyers aren't trading Laughton for that. I think, based upon lack of FA in this class, Danny will hold tight to his wants or just keep Laughton.

You have to think about his fit onto Philly's lineup, you throw a puck moving centre in between Robertson and Tippett and that is line that presents an opportunity to score as soon as they get over the blue. Youth, Speed and Deadly Shots...

I am with you though that Danny may want a bit more! Higher pick or maybe a name like Nick Abruzzese (Toronto AHL) to go along with Robertson.

Wow, considering most of the rumors and PHI fans want a 1st and a bit more for Laughton, and leaf fans seem to REALLY want him, you'd think they'd offer value.

Robertson's value is probably at an all time low and Leafs should keep him. But he and a 3rd TWO drafts away? Thats weak

Yup I'm with you, the deal could be sweeten in Philly's favour. Although in Toronto's situation I would not overpay for a 30yr old with a career high of 43pts!

I think you overestimate robertson, but also abrueze who at best looks like a bottom 6 and probably not that. Its also about whether the flyers need a small winger, when they have a ton of wingers already the same age.

Do you really think robertson or abrueze is ahead of: frost, cates, farabee, koneckny, tippett, brink, foerster, gautheir, or even atkinson, deslauriers, and the bunch of midlevel, but having good years prospects at forward they already have?

You are the buyer for something PHI isnt giving away, the price is quality.

Your team just paid a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th for 2 expiring UFA 30+ yr olds, one who has never come close to 40 pts, and a 1st, 3rd and 4th for a 30+ yr old in expiring fading UFA in Foligno 2 yrs earlier.

You dont want to pay the price, or feel his quality is "limited", stop asking for the product.

You seem to want him, but immediately downgrade what he is, strange he has value that you want him, but has less when the price is discussed.
