Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
basically going into the season with the mind set of last season. They were going to give newhook the chance at 2C and we swap erod for drouin for some depth, so we run it back again, this time with barb taking landys spot and bjustad being the depth center ad. leaving us a little money to play with at the deadline to bring in our usual 3/4C.
We were able to win our div last year given it was a weaker div but i think we go alot further than first round with landy and nichuskin so hopefully another year for newy and a healthy lineup can have us being a contender again.
These contracts set up up for next year to bring toews back at 7x8 and landy can fit under contract as well. It gives us pretty much the same roster except swapping drouin for landy and oskar for malgin

I don't think E-Rod is going to sign at that from the rumours. He may well be pricing himself out of Colorado. Other than that, this may end up being close to what the Avs do. If, as I recall, the plan was Newhook at 2C with 2 good wingers, then this fits the bill and they just have to stay healthy to try it out this year. Bottom 6 is still a bit weak for me but it's not the worst I've seen.

Of course it is only rumours. He may sign for less $ more term if he likes Denver, and the Avs want him that badly.

Hunt and Manson playing together a lot gives me the heebie-jeebies. I like both guys but they are sometimes a liability; I'd rather sign someone like De Haan for cheap to even out the 3rd pair minutes.

I feel like Barbie is going to try to cash in on his success this season and look for more years. Probably not max but I imagine his camp believes he could get 5-6 years.

In a perfect world landy would come back in playoffs and let us manipulate the cap a bit and give us a lot more depth then maybe retire with his 2nd cup and give us a little cap relief for the following seasongrimace

5x5? i still think 5 is probily a pretty close number for him for cap so that won't change the real situation but i think we'd have to gamble the extra years and go for it over the next 4 years till some of our guys start burning out

Yeah, I think that could work. It's going to be interesting to see where he signs and for what number. He seems to be a playoff type guy; teams pay a premium for that.

In a perfect world... landy would come back healthy, play the way we're use to seeing him play and captain this team for atleast another decade.
