So I read where Lou and McPhee plan to discuss a trade. This might be wishful thinking but I do feel it's a fair deal for both teams

I think if your picking up Methot, in addition to Miller, you'll have to include several draft picks.

Well I was thinking that but if I was it wouldn't be a 1st round pick. Kapanen gives them an NHL ready RW that that is only 20 years old so is has the potential of being a core player for them. So I would say a 2nd this year or next would be good

I really don't like the idea of trading Kapanen. And why do the Leafs have to give up anything to acquire a 4.9m Methot? Surely the Leafs can find third LHD playing behind Reilly and Gardiner, cheaper without giving up Kapanen.

Several different insiders have reported that Dallas wants Methot and Vegas would love to move up in the draft as much as possible, so that seems like a natural fit for a trade right there. I could see the Leafs being interested in Colin Miller or TVR, though apparently Carolina wants TVR bad, for some reason. Like they don't already have enough good D.

I've heard that too but my understanding is that Lou is flying to Vegas to talk to McPhee personally and I doubt it's to talk just about Miller or TVR sounds more like a big trade is in the works.

But where is he going to play? On the 4th line. We need to remember Babcock likes having a physical space creater on every line so what line does he fit on? So id rather give up kapanen than this years 1st. Also, Methot would be a stop gap while Dermott, Nielsen develop and hopefully this years 1st. Methot is an upgrade to Polak interms of a physical shutdown dman and is a great mentor to Reilly, Gardiner, and Zaistsev.

PuckPal: Kapanen where is going to play? Well the Leafs probably can't afford JVR next season, so I think Kapanen takes his spot on LW. Komarov will probably be gone too. So, I'm more looking down the road to 2018, Since there is not an exchange of cap$$$$ really, I would think the Leafs can spend about 4m on a Dman and still keep Kapanen.

I get that JVR and/or Komarov will be gone but can Kapanen play a space creater role at he size? That's the issue i do like him as a player I just can't see him in a role that fits especially if Nylander is going to stay at wing. Also, cap is not an issue the only big signing is Nylander and Lupul is off the books. But the point of this is what is Lou planning to do with Vegas and to fly that far just to talk about a simple trade for Miller doesn't make sense does it?
