Buyouts start today and will end on June 30th. If you are buying out an IRL contract, use the
CapFriendly Buyout Calculator. If you are buying out a contract signed in game that is different than the player's IRL contract then follow the directions below to calculate the buyout penalty:
1. Multiply the remaining amount of money on the contract by either 2/3 or 1/3 based on the player's age (If the player is 26 or younger on the day of the buyout then it is 1/3, otherwise it's 2/3).
If you are buying out a 35-year-old with a contract of $6,000,000 x 2 then you would do $6,000,000*(2/3) to get $4,000,000
2. Divide that number by double the remaining term on the contract. Do not include the 22-23 season, only 23-24 and on. That number is the yearly buyout penalty.
Since there are 2 years left on that contract we would multiply 2 years by 2 to get 4 years. We then divide the $4,000,000 from before by 4 years to get $1,000,000. To buyout a 35 year old with a contract of $6,000,000 x 2, the buyout penalty would be $1,000,000 x 4 years.
*These steps are only used for contracts that aren't the same as IRL contracts. If you matched an IRL contract then use the buyout calculator.. All players that are bought out will be added to the UFA pool.
Include your team logo, player name, and buyout penalty in your post.
