Like Erod hate that contract

It hurt to type but i think that's what he can get on the open market and I don't see a better replacement in this free agent class. All of Bunting, Bertuzzi, O'Reilly, even JT Compher, are going to cost more than that. And I don't think you can waste potentially the last year of Toews and another year of this core by letting Erod walk and running it back next year with even less secondary scoring.

I don’t think even Erod thinks he’ll get that much. I do think there’s mutual interest in resigning him but I think it’ll be more like 3 years 3-3.5M. And I don’t expect him to be the answer at 2C. Would love to have him back tho.

Love ERod, but we can't afford to give him a 5x5. 3x3.5 or 4x4 is about what I think he is worth to the Avs. Won't be the 2C but definitely a player that fits as a middle 6 winger that can slide to 2C or the 1W in case of injuries. Other contracts look fine except Malgin. 3x1.25 would be a steal for a guy that scored at a 20 goal pace for us. Just not sure he can replicate. And Byram probably gets 4+ even on a bridge.

He and his family like Denver, there aren’t a bunch of contenders with money I bet they can get him on a multi year deal in the 3’s, because at $5M that contract is instantly bad imo.
