We’ll just buy him out.

Amazing how many people think they are going to pay to save 333k of cap space this year. 🙄

Cap vacuum. Can score 100 points, plays all the phases of the game. If thats the package I do that in a heartbeat

Leafs laugh at Yzerman. No where near a good return for a 25 year old 100 point player with 2 years left

I think the term on the contract is awful for Detroit. We'll be in playoff limbo for the next two years. We aren't winning anything; all he will do is just bolster us as 1st round exits until two years are up and he signs else where.

Idk, that team looks pretty solid. I still think a center should be the priority but shoot if we come away with Marner and Connor I'd be over the moon.

I look at it like this; we'll certainly be better with Marner on our team for two years, but odds are he doesn't resign here. That 17OA pick will take a few years, but will be on our team for probably a decade plus during our actually competitive era. Or we could trade it++ for Connor, who'll more than likely re-sign here.

I get that but I put more faith in Yzerman maximizing Marners value than I do with Dubas. Even if he doesn't stay you can trade him.

Do you think Yzerman could get more for Marner at say, the TDL with retention? I don't think so. Or it'd be a huge gamble. Either way, it'll be very difficult.

I mean he got a first for Little Bert who was having a brutal stretch. I think he could get 2 plus and a prospect for Marner. Again I don't want Marner. This team needs a center

If Yzerman can get that; so can Toronto - that's my thing. Plus, we're giving up more than that in the trade. Furthermore; a contender will offer that; that means late picks. I don't think the Red Wings make the playoffs next year, so we're giving up two mid round picks + 2 prospects + a struggling player and then taking on Murray's contract for Marner. That's more than what you'd suspect we could get for a return.

Although we do need a center; our lack of a top-line wing is also bad. I just don't think Marner is our guy.
