Offseason and Draft Day

Created by: esnhl
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 13, 2023
Published: May 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This years team and next years team will probably look very similar imo. Too early to go all in, so best to keep track and shuffle lines to see who plays well with Bedard (Reichel - Bedard - Raddysh?)

I can see Chicago keeping 3 goalies, especially with the injury history with Murray and Mrazek. Capitalize on cap space while also making sure Stauber and Commesso can establish themselves in the AHL (even if Stauber may not need it, allow him to solidify himself like Vlasic and Reichel last season).

Vancouver needs the cap space and this deal frees up a lot of it. Would they like to stay where they are at, yes, but is it realistic, maybe. This is an easy way out for them to get some breathing room to make some moves. I can easily see a scenario where they stay put, but this idea almost makes too much sense for me. If anything, rather than NYR 4th 2025, maybe the 2023 DAL 3rd to push it over the edge.

Savoie is probably the next prospect to be signed for the Hawks, with Jake Wise and Stanislav Demin not being signed before their rights expire in August. I can also see the Hawks giving Galvas a qualifying offer so they keep his rights, but who knows.

After all this, Hawks still have a lot of space and retention spots available to make moves at TDL and during the season. Can see Dickenson, Raddysh, and T Johnson being moved and bringing back assets, and maybe even Mrazek or Murray being moved if a team needs a goalie that bad and they play decently.

Canucks aren't doing that, it should only take a mid round pick after Myers's bonuses are paid out so no reason for Vancouver to pay that high of a price to dump him.

I think both of these trades definitely could happen and idea of using all the cap space to gain short term contracts to meet the cap floor and add draft capital is exactly what the blackhawks will be looking to do. I do believe they bring Max Domi back also.

Van is not doing that. Moving either Garland or Myers separately will cost less and aolve their problems.

19th & 35th - 1st rd. picks would peek an ear... Or Alec Regula and a 3rd rounder instead of the 2nd rounder.

If Chicago had any decent players left the Canucks probably would trade their 11th pick to them but alas they have nothing.

Hawks shouldn't give up anything more than the Rangers 2nd (#56) in that Murray deal. It's not 2022 any more

I don't want Domi coming back. We need some more size down the middle and having Bedard as 1C Domi 2C isn't big enough
