Shockingly enough I want Dubas back. I would never have said that until this season but he’s won me over after a few years of bashing him. Keefe can go for all I care. I think the team can only improve with a better coach.

I’d rather go with a veteran coach who knows what they’re doing. My preferred coaches would be:

1 Boudreau

2 Vigneault

3 Sutter

And if you are reading this and thinking it’s stupid to bring back old coaches just look at what Bowness did for Winnipeg or how Cassidy left Boston and is doing great with Vegas. Plenty of people criticized Dallas for hiring DeBoer but that looks like a fine move right now. Sometimes the old dog needs a new home.

Dubas should come back and then we need a coach who can adjust to what's happening. If the leafs adjusted in game 2 we would still be playing here. But doing nothing until game 4 ended it.

Easy. Brad Treliving for GM and Gerrard Gallent for coach. If I am the Board of Directors, I'd seriously consider replacing Shannahan as well.

The thing Keefe was bad at was adjustments, it's not a veteran coach thing it's a stylistic thing. Babcock was the same, he thought he had all the answers and wouldn't bend from his philosophy.

Making in game adjustments is exactly why you take a more experienced coach. That doesn’t make any sense. Boudreau would be my hire. He’s a fantastic coach.

I want a winner, not another Keefe. Boudreau hasn't done anything in the playoffs

Cooper learned how to become a winner but I am not sure Keefe can. I am not sure who I would want but Keefe doesn't seem like the right coach here. He should have turned them into a defence first, give them nothing system after game 1 and didn't do anything until game 4. Instead of trying to win 7-1 they could have worked at winning 2-1 and I bet we are still playing hockey. Keefe just doesn't adjust until it's too late.

Gerard Gallant would personally be my go to guy. A third round appearance in 2021 and lost in the finals in 2017. Gallant coaches really well when he has a veteran team in front of him and it's getting to a point where the Leafs are just that

He's never had any post season success and sucked in Vancouver. He's done. You need a good coach not an old coach.

What is with this concept you have that an old coach can’t be good?

Most old coaches think how they did it when they were at the best is the only way to do it. Like Babcock won the cup and 2 Olympics and stopped learning. Became obsessed with his own legend and became a terrible coach. Most old coaches haven't changed how they do stuff since they coached 10-15 years back.

So you think all of them are Babcock? That’s absolutely wrong. Look at what Bowness did with a mediocre Jets team… Lindy Ruff has adjusted to the NHL of today and is nothing like the guy we saw in Buffalo… Vegas took Cassidy and are better for it… Lane Lambert is old and spent years with Trotz but got the Isles back to the playoffs… I don’t know if you think DeBoer is old but he’s done great with Dallas even with plenty of online fans calling for a new young coach after Bowness left. If you want a young coach then you might as well keep Keefe instead of going back to square 1 and winding the coaching clock back 4 years.

Bowness had a hot start and almost missed the playoffs after his team had one of the worst second halves in the league. The Jets also sucked and only made the playoffs due to Halleybuck being himself for the first half. He fell back to earth and they were terrible. DeBoer is alright but I am not sure he's as good as people think.

But look at guys like Cooper and Brindamore. Those guys are good coaches and know how to adjust and change with the times and what the other team throws at them. Did any of your veteran coaches prove they can do that? Ruff is a joke, always has been but he is good at getting teams on track for a bit.

All I want is someone who is smart enough to make adjustments in the playoffs. It's very different than the regular season and Keefe is a great regular season coach but a lousy playoff coach.

There’s a reason Hellebuyck was better than last season and that’s because Bowness got that team to play defence. He faced less shots and less scoring chances.

Ruff literally did the exact thing you claim old coaches don’t do, he went from being the most defensive minded coach out there to a guy coaching a team that out skates everybody and scores for fun. If that’s not adjusting nothing is.

Every coach is going to look bad when you’re using Jon Cooper as an example. And Rod is terrific for sure but he’s about as old school as a coach can get. That team backchecks in their sleep! They are an old school hockey team that plays like it’s 20 years ago but with better skaters.

Changing systems at the beginning of the season is one thing. You spend the whole season reinforcing a system and then in the playoffs you have to adjust to what the other team does. Bowness didn't change anything ever and then called out his team when his system was exposed by Vegas. Keefe is the same, didn't change a thing and Florida exposed a flaw and he didn't do anything about it.
