First Petry declines anyways, but Pens would if he were willing to waive for Vancouver.

Why would VAN do that trade with PIT? We're free from Myers next season and Petry sucks

Boeser, 26 yo last 258 games 80 goals with a $6,650,000 salary
Olofsson, 27 yo last 257 games 81 goals with a $4,750,000 salary

Dries, 29 yo career 122 games 26 pts $762,500 salary
Jost, 25 yo last season 71 games 25 pts $2,000,000 last salary

So why does Buffalo need to give up the 39th OA in this trade?
Buffalo will keep the devils they know rather than trade them for two players who may not fit into the locker room even without the 39th OA as part of the trade.

Boeser is by far the better player. More offence. More term. Younger. Jost doesn't have a ton of value. Dries is a depth forward, nothing more, but useful. No one wants to play in Buffalo and Olofsson will leave for nothing in the offseason. At least Boeser will be there for 2 seasons, maybe seeing enough progress to stay. The 2nd makes it fair value.
