Definitely going to be one of the big questions going forward.

A lot of people are giving Newhook that 2 year 2M+ deal on these armchair gm posts. I don’t think he’s earned it yet. With the cap not going up much and the obvious need for more depth, I think the Avs won’t give him more than a 1 year deal around 1-1.5M. Tyson Jost was a very similar situation a few years ago. Coming off his ELC, not meeting expectations and similar numbers to Newhook. He got a 1 year deal worth less than 1M.

I disagree, I liked Jost more than the majority of Avs fans, but his highest point total was 26 in 70, Newhook had 33 in 71. People are panicking even though he's still 22, and could easily break out next season, and the extra 500k-1mil is worth it for the potential to have a 2C at 2mil for a year rather than having to pay him a lot, and if he doesn't break out, it's not the end of the world as he'll still likely be worth it with 30-35 points.
