What is that Dumba contract tears of joy tears of joy. Also the last thing the canucks need to do is tie up 18.5 mil into wingers

Honestly, just keep Miller. Causes a lot less pain for others in the long run.

Lol why would Leafs even do that? This isn't a donation

starts with a 2023 first + a top end prospect and that is just getting the trade talks to happen

Yeah, who needs young wingers who can score and play defense? Crazy.

Why would they do that?
1.) They don't have the space to resign him unless they make other moves
2.) A first round exit means change

What would he cost? A middle 1st and an A prospect. This is two low 1sts, a 3rd and a B prospect. Seems equivalent to me.

Yeahhh no. Willy's not leaving. That trade sucks for us. We can find a way to make him fit.

Also, Miller's probably worth more. Dumba is worth quite a bit more. De Haan and Bertuzzi are worth less.

Bertuzzi is not needed, especially for that price, and Toews is not a 2C.

Nylander is a great player on an expiring contract. Tor can absolutely move things around to resign him but if they get tossed 1st round, changes may be in order. As to his worth (IMO), he is valued at a 1st and an A prospect. I sent him for two 1sts, a 3rd and a B prospect.

Miller is worth a 1st and B prospect. I sent a low 1st and two B prospects.

Dumba is living in reputation. He hasn't had a positive Corsi in 4 years and it hasn't been a good Corsi in 7. He is a total liability on the ice (10% more likely to score or prevent a goal when he is on the bench). He is in need of 3rd pairing sheltering for a season so his numbers get better and he can get a better deal.

Bert is a possession driver who can hit. He is Miller but younger and (in this scenario) cheaper.

Toews is absolutely a 2nd / 3rd C. His numbers are really good. He has the prob where he is currently paid as a 1C and has that reputation. So when he played like a 2nd C everyone says he is washed. He has great advanced stats and is top 5 in faceoff win%. The only danger is his health but a 2 year deal should mitigate that risk.

There will still most likely be a team who will pay much more for Dumba.

Even if we're bumped in the first, Willy's not going anywhere. You'd have to move mountains to get him, far more than what he's worth.

I agree on both points. Dumba will likely make more on reputation. Nylander is a great player but if Tor gets bumped, they might make some drastic moves. I don't think he'll be moved but this return would be acceptable by both sides.
