Trading away Ryan Strome for nothing makes the Ducks worse.

Failing to re-sign our backup and potential replacement for John Gibson and replacing him with Michael Hutchinson makes the team much worse.

Trading away Frank Vatrano and replacing him with Danton Heinen makes the Ducks much, much worse.

Trading away Cam Fowler and replacing him with an overpaid Brian Dumoulin makes the Ducks much, much, much worse.

Signing Max for more than his Qualifying Offer and Connor Clifton to twice what he's worth are also horrible, no-good, terrible ideas.

Other than four of your RFA signings, every single decision here is utterly, indisputably awful.

You strip away 32 goals and 72 total points, this season by removing Vatrano and Strome, you then replace it with....... Danton Heinen and elevating Silfverberg for a grand total of 16 goals and 45 points, Heinin has been on the Ducks before, it didn't fly then, it won't fly now *Hah, see what I did there* While I agree Strome has not lived up to his signing this year, Vatrano has done just fine.

Trade away our #1 defenseman, who has very quietly put together a career year (Fowler is never returning that much, his nearly ironclad NTC ensures that) and sign Dumolin, not only did you sign Dumolin, you signed him until he is 37! At least get Graves or Garikov if you're going to drop that kind of coin. Clifton is..... fine I guess in a bottom 4 role, but he is not a top pairing guy, and you gave him a top pairing contract. I might entertain a 3x4 at the most for him. Bringing Shattenkirk back probably happens, but I think you went a bit rich on him.

About the only thing I think was good here was putting Comtois on the top line where he needs a solid try out as the energy guy/puck digger, but his netfront/tip abilities just don't seem to be there.

This isn't a fix, this ensures we stay locked in the basement for years to come dragging the corpse of Dumolin from barn to barn like some macabre NHL sideshow. Only thing it guarantees is we pick top 5 for the next 5 drafts in a row.

Detroit passes, We don't need LD even if it's homeboy Cam Fowler. Plus he's getting nowhere near that kind of return.
