I've been beating the ekholm drumm since klef was sidelined. I'm not big on this deal personally but I'm a big fan of the target really feels like a Holland type of pick up an aged d that many consider to be past his prime and overpaid but manages to fill a much needed void nearly flawlessly. I'd go in this direction over Karlsson personally.

Question with this scenario is who takes Broberg for nothing when he's waived, Columbus or Anaheim

Desharnais would have to be sent down cause he doesn't require waivers but if Broberg stays you're over the cap.

"Nash has come out and said they’d be willing to move Jeannot because they’re worried about his arb case"

Have you got a source on this? If this were true, it would definitely be a major topic of discussion amongst Preds media, but I haven't heard a peep about it.

I don't know how worried NSH could be about arbitration - they'll have months of negotiation time before Jeannot could go that route. I don't know how favourable a negotiator would be to Jeannot anyway, given the down season he's having.

As for the trade itself - NSH declines.

Really? Are you sure we decline? I think he needs to add a few more cap dumps before we can make our decision.

Frank Seravalli said it on Mondays DFO Rundown pod that he’d be available for the right price. I thought the same about the arb case because of this season but I guess they take into account the 24 goal season.

Idk why everyone views these guys as cap dumps. They’re just money that we need to move out because of a dollar in dollar out scenario. Foegele is a good player we’d like to keep he’s just a casualty of wanting to upgrade the team

They are cap dumps because I don't think any GM wants to pay bottom 6 players near 3m.

You'd have to compensate for giving them to any team who naturally doesnt want them. It's not a free favor.

But you take guys on to get the package you want. Puljujarvi is worth the flyer on an expiring deal. Like I said in my comments there you can retain him at next years deadline down to 1.375M and you’d get at least a 4th round pick and along the way he gives you 10 goal 30 point pace on the third line able to play both sides of the wing.

Puljujarvi produces bottom 6 numbers, and once said in an interview that he's not confident enough in his game playing beside two of the best players in the world. Why would you retain when your goal is to unload his 3m cap hit and buy at the deadline? Nobody is PAYING you for a guy that's been on the trade block for the past two years. Especially when it's rumoured that they want to waive him.

Both Foegele and Pulju would be taking space away from our younger players who need the ice time more.

I’m not giving Pulju any value in this deal, he’s essentially not negative or positive value. Just there to make the money work. If you don’t like what you get from him the rest of the season he can walk. No skin off your back. Also we’re not retaining anything on Foegele I’m saying Nashville could at next years deadline to acquire an additional asset from this deal. Or in the off-season then if you’ve got all these great prospects ready for prime time.

If you're unloading Foegele to us, what makes you think we'll get any sort of asset for him next season? Unless he has some magical resurgence on Nashville, which is very unlikely, he will continue to have no value to any team. He'd still be a cap dump.

If you wanted to throw Pulju in to make the money work, sure, throw us a 3rd or 4th. But we wouldn't be taking both of them back. Too much money and too many roster spots.

And in today's 32 Thoughts, Friedman says NSH is talking to Jeannot about a long-term extension. I don't think anyone is worried/talking about arbitration because we're months away from Jeannot choosing to or even being able to choose to do that.

I thought if they wanted to send him down again he had to go on waivers, but if not then right on. Do your thing

I heard that too on the Jeff Marek Show this afternoon after I said that on here
