I like Kubalik as an option, but as DET’s 2nd leading scorer coming with another year term, he won’t come cheap. Probably the same or more as Domi = 2nd + 3rd/4th (or B Prospect)

SJ’s Barabanov might be a bit less, so would maybe Anthony Duclair given he’s coming off injury and hasn’t played all season.

And then there’s Ivan Barbashev and also JVR or Mike Hoffman (both 50% retained). Another Low Cost RFA Gamble might be a Emil Bemstrom

Those 3 names you just named would be perfect

Habs have too much pity to send Dadonov to any team. Habs decline by empathy, we feel too bad to cause that much harm.

As a Wings fan, you are not wrong. Kubalik was recently healthy scratched. He is streaky. He is a one trick pony with his shot, and he is ok on offensive side. He is abysmal defensively. While I wouldn't be surprised if he went fr a pair of 2nds to an unsuspecting GM, I'd also not be surprised to see him go for a 3rd.

Every team needs their "offense only and shelter him" guy, but Kubalik is not consistent enough for my liking.

Detroit asks for a pick instead. No idea who Poposil is, but if he isn't a good enough prospect to be NHL ready in a year, the team has too many lower tier prospects and need to make decisions for the 50 contract limit.

Should really be for nothing = Future Considerations. Not like Hagg is a full time NHL Player himself, he has just 14 Games and is a -8

I can't really argue that, but Haag has SOME value; he played well a couple nights ago. He has only played 14 games due to injury, so when he has been in the lineup, he has had a tough time fitting in. He isn't free, but maybe a 5th?

I’d prefer it be Connor Mackey or a 7th. Mackey’s probably better, but we need a Veteran/Experienced LD who’s more Physical and Kills Penalties. That’s something

Drouin is an interesting option for sure. It'd all come down to cost but I really think it's worth entertaining it because he's theoretically the exact kind of winger we are missing at the moment. Now I say theoretically because how many years have various teams been waiting for him to be what they think he can be.

Drouin’s shown flashes. My thought pattern is that a Left Shot Playmaker for Lindholm & Toffoli would be nice (Dube & Ruzicka have done well but are still young and Huberdeau didn’t work that great) and that Drouin being Huberdeau’s friend and Dadonov being his former winger, it would help all 3 and maybe even Jakob Pelletier as well.

If Drouin &/or Dadonov do well and like CGY, maybe they sign Team Friendly extensions to continue building back their game and value, although Dadonov’s definitely on the older side for a forward

Virtanen?? He's playing in the secondary Swiss league well below the NL, where a lot of guys have 2nd jobs and last I heard is that he was about to be run out of the league because of how disliked he was the locker room lol

Yup, I heard that too. He was playing well over seas and might just need to come back to CGY to get his game and himself straightened out. Maybe it should be an AHL contract to start
