Would be real awkward giving all that up just for pastrnak to walk. UFA rights trades don’t look like this. Probably would be a second round pick max.

Made this up under the assumption Pasta wouldnt walk due to the appeal of playing with mcdavid, drais and getting paid closer to his worth.

Assuming boston is offering 11, the oilers would have to offer 12+ to equal the same in post tax earnings. Where’s that cap space coming from? Even if he’s not walking, 2nd round pick seems a more fair price than all this.

If the Oilers want to make a huge off-season acquisition, it would have to be for a star defenseman or goaltender. Sure they need top 6 forwards, but their defense is a big issue.

Maybe they could get Laine and Werenski from Columbus, but I don’t know what they would give up and how they’d free cap space
