The Leafs will offer you James Van Riemsdyk (with a contract extension), Jake Gardiner, Kasperi Kapanen and their 1st round draft pick of 2017 for Wayne Simmons, Andrew MacDonald, Travis Sanheim and your 2nd overall pick in 2017.

Anyone outside of Colorado think Duchene's value is sky high?

Alternatively, the Leafs would offer Nazem Kadri in a 1-for-1 deal for the Flyers 2nd overall draft pick in 2017.

That is an awful deal for the Flyers. Simmer > JVR, Sanheim > Kapanen, #2 > #17, and Gardiner > AMac.

No chance.. That isn't even close and Read has one year left and isn't that bad.

Haha now I know you're joking. What about Nylander for #2 straight up

I'm not a duchene or Avs fan I'm basing it on what Sakic was asking and the pieces in this scenario are a surplus for philly with the exception of the pick. Haag is still a prospect but Philly has Sanheim, Myers, and Morin ahead of him. While Laughton has struggled and moved down the depth chart and now Philly drafted guys like Laberge and Rubitsov who are slotted above him, Read is a cap dump.

Duchene's value is presently cannot be quantified, which is so sad both for the player and organization. Duchene is due for a bounce back, he's a great player playing in a bad situation in Colorado. Throw in the fact that the offers reportedly offered to Joe Sakic around the deadline and you are looking at value consisting of a 1st round draft pick, a young forward/defenseman presently in the NHL and a stud prospect. Not only is that value so unreasonable, but there are few teams that can offer such a deal. I'd say Carolina, Jets, Flyers and Islanders are a couple teams off the top of my head that could make something happen.

Where are you getting these values from? Obviously, we have our own biases, but Sanheim is completely unproven where as Kapanen, for example, already proved that he belongs in someone's top-6, so even if Sanheim is a future top-4, I'd say based on age, skill and team need, that'd be comparable value. With the year that Ghost had, Gardiner is better than every Flyers defenseman presently not named Provorov, so if Simmonds is a little bit better that JVR, Gardiner would more than make up for the deficit. So perhaps the deal is a little unfair, but awful, come on?

If the value of the 2nd overall pick is Nolan Patrick, a projected two-way second line center, than aside from a cheaper contract, wouldn't the Flyers want a legitimate second line two-way center that just scored 30-goals on an extremely good long term deal? The Flyers are not in a full scale rebuild and have the tools presently, without this pick, to make the Playoffs. Kadri would help the Flyers more than Patrick would. I'd argue that if Nico fell second, he might end up becoming better than Kadri, but I don't think Nolan will be.

Kapanen is still unproven. A guy with 3 points in 14 games (including playoffs) is somehow proven he is a top-6 forward? I don't see that yet. They might be comparable in value but if you look at the Flyers he isn't making the top-6 and might not even make the top-9 with the addition of Lindblom. Ghost and Gardiner are tough to judge, but I'd take Provorov & Gudas over him. Maybe it's not awful like you suggest but it definitely doesn't help the Flyers now or in the future.

The Flyers need a center that can take over for G in the future or a true scoring/sniper winger. I don't see Kadri returning that value. I like him a lot and think he's underrated but for #2 I don't see it. I understand Patrick might never be close to as good as him since draft picks are wild cards but they'd be doing themselves a disservice to not at least try to get a future 1C/replacement for G by trading for a guy that we already know for sure is a 2C/3C.

That's garbage. The Flyers aren't going back down the JVR road. Sanheim is going to be better than Gardiner. Simmonds is the best player in the deal. Also dropping from 2 to 17 in this draft is horrible.

Nope. I'd rather have Patrick or Hischier over Duchene just because they're more cost controlled and Matt Read is not a bad contract. Maybe the cap hit is a little high but it expires after this year.

So just because Kapanen scored a couple goals in the playoffs he's a top 6 player? Most of his success has come the AHL. I'd value a D-man like Sanheim much higher than him.
