Why loose Dumba when you can trade him?

They have to lose somebody if they trade Dumba. So why trade away Dumba and then lose zucker too?

I would trade you Justin bailey(RW buffalo) the number 8 pick in 2017 draft and your 2017 2nd round pick for for dumba and zucker. At least your getting something good for them and bailey is expansion draft exempt and free' up some cap space to resign niederreiter.

Can I ask, if you traded with a team that gave you a player to be exposed, plus other assets to make up for the good player your trading isn't that better.
I'm not suggesting this but for example (using Devs players):
    Dumba to Devs for
2nd rd in 17, 3rd Rd in 17 and Jon Merrill
Beats giving up Dumba for zip no?

Shero would make a move like this as well

If Granny and Nino are getting $6.5m+ contracts I'd be trading them. They aren't worth more than the $5m-$6m range. Granny had 1 good year, at least Nino is a consistent 20g scorer.

So the Wild free up $4.5m in cap space lose 2 quality players and replace them with stuff? Bailey would likely be in Iowa next season behind Tuch and maybe Kunin as RWs. Kaprizov hopefully comes the the US after next season. The 8oa pick isn't that interesting this year. Reinhart/Nylander would have to be on the table for Dumba+Zucker (as a base trade) or it's not really worth considering for the Wild.

Merrill does nothing for the Wild. Olofsson and Reilly are already there to fill the bottom pair LD. No it's not better for the WIld. Lose Dumba for stuff and still end up losing Scandella or Zucker for nothing to Vegas. Lose a quality player and get a quality player back makes sense, not getting mystery boxes that might never pan out for quality, and then still lose another quality player for nothing.
