Detroit declines your offer. We don't want a 38 year old with 4 years left @ >$5M each for a young D-man and a pick in the middle of our rebuild process.

How about we send you Kronwall for Panarin instead?

No interest whatsoever in Brent Seabrook. I hate everything about that trade. Why would the Leafs get two garbage picks for taking on the entirety of that contract? Why do you get two high picks and Nielsen? I know he's a project and years from making the show, but still. Throw in Ville Pokka and a higher pick if we take Seabrook with no salary retained.

Fine, fine. We'll throw in Franzen too.

On top of what others have said, Kane probably wouldn't waive his NMC to go back to Buffalo anymore. That would also be a terrible return for him but that's a different story.

Hossa wouldn't waive to go to Detroit either. Guy is only making $1m for the next few years so he had little motivation to go to relocate his family so he can join a rebuilding team at his age and the Hawks wouldn't do it because they wouldn't risk Hossa retiring and them being hit with the cap recapture penalties.

The trade sucks, but dont overlook the fact that Seabrook would add a lot of veteran leadership and size to your backend!
