Description
-Franson signing for temporary RHD depth to give the team time to find an ideal RHD
-Yakupov signing based on assumption that STL doesn't give qualify him thus making him a free agent, he can be given a chance on a good offensive team to find his game again, and if he does that makes JVR more expendable
-Trade Leivo or Leipsic (doesn't need to be both, or either for that matter) because they both require waivers and we likely won't have space for both on the Leafs roster
-Marlies all given the same contract to save me time when making this, Greening and Campbell both on 2 way deals
-Draft the best possible player, doesn't matter position
-Dermott, Rosen, Borgman all battle for the 6th defense spot

I made one very similar to this the other day. I like the moves. The Yak move is interesting, apparently he's a great kid and all of the arena staff in Edmonton loved him, maybe Babs could help turn his career around. Our forwards are already very deep so nothing needs to change there for now. I think our defense still needs work though. Maybe if JVR becomes expendable like you said, we could get a defense in return.

Isn't that Leaf optimism that an AHLer and two fringe NHLers are going to get draft picks in return. Yak has: never found him game" (well junior) never in the NHL.

What does that even mean? They may not get high draft picks, but they will get draft picks if they decide to trade them. So you're saying every GM in the league will look at a FREE AGENT Yakupov and decide he's not worth a chance? No. He's getting a contract from somebody.

I like all the moves. The only thing i'd do differently is use some of that cap room to upgrade the 4C and back-up goalie. Preferably 2 yr deals.
