Since Babcock and Lou went to enjoy Anaheim playoff games I decided to set a new hypothesis.

The mindset on the ANA deal is; Vatanen I think would be the one RHD ANA would be willing to trade to protect Manson. They need a D in return who can be exposed in order to protect Manson, so I chose Carrick with the reasoning that Vegas would take Silfverberg/Rackell if exposed before a D, and Carrick has room to develop (no way they take Marincin in the trade),AND if we land Vatanen Carrick would be exposed and Vegas would probably take him from us.
ANA does not have backup G and they like Leafs G as recent trend...if they lose a forward to Vegas they will need all money poss to go shopping FA market, Sparks could do the trick as backup or for a callup frm AHL at low price. A draft pick and Rychel, could be changed for Shoshnikov for bottom 6 roster and PK.
Vegas protection 7/3/1 Kadri/JVR/Bozak/Komarov/Brown/Martin/Leivo Reilly/Gardiner/Vatanen Andersen
Convince Vegas to take Marincin (with high pick otherwise take who you want frm unprotected list) and Dermott up to Leafs roster with Hunwich as a depth trusted D (you know exactly what you get) in case injuries and/or Dermott ends up sent down to Marlies.
Polak wont be ready for camp, I signed Franson 2 years as 3rd pair RHD. This combination however worries me on PK, Reilly-Zaitsev-Vatanen but the last LHD..I hope Dermott can perform there.
On roster B.Smith and Shosnikov are sent down, Kapanen/Kalinin I think will be on top of them in camp (remember Shosh started last season AHL and came up after trade P.Holland and Leivo was injured).
Valiev/Shoshnikov/Lindgren/Leipisc/Griffith/Rychel I consider them trading chips and would use them if brings opportunity to swap draft picks to be able to draft C and/or RHD which we are thin.
I buyout Lupul to give cap flexibility and one more contract to sign prospects/european FA.
Brown signed one year as next year still RFA and can determine longer term, I think 1.2-1.5M will be signed I just gave 2M as the most I think he will get.
Hyman maybe is 3 year term, 2 i think brings more flexibility to see how prospects develop.
Backup G since Sparks is traded bring back McElhiney or some other veteran backup for 1 year contract.
4th line C to Fehr IMO can handle this spot and we can place Kapanen on bottom 6 to start, better than signing FA C without Kapanen.

The core is kept, a few additions on D and to grow frm within. I hope this makes sense.
