Trades with VAN and BUF

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- The core is Stamkos, Hedman, Kucherov, Drouin, and Vasilevskiy.
- Give Drouin a bridge deal at 3 years, $12M ($4M AAV with escalating salary of 3, 4, 5) - using Ryan Johansen as a comparable here.
- Give Palat and Johnson deals that take them to UFA at age 29-30 to keep the cap hit down - 3 years, $14.5M ($4.833 AAV).
- Almost $20M coming off the books in two years with the contracts of Moulson, Stralman, Elder, Coburn, and Boyle. Although I think Stralman and/or Elder could be extended. This money should cover Kucherov's cap hit near doubling and Point's new contract as well.
- Trade Johnson in two years, when Point should be more than ready to step in. And maybe trade Palat as well, if Erne or Katchouk are ready, or Gusev is willing to come over.
- Namestnikov may become a casualty as well, but others like Raddysh and Howden may be able to step in as others slide up the depth chart.

Vancouver would/should be happy to accept that trade. Nice explanations on the team moving forward. Yzerman has really set this team up to be good for a long time

Well thought out. Very realistic trade scenarios. Makes more sense than most I have seen proposed.

Concerning the Buffalo Trade.. it seems fair Buffalo's big concern of course being the Injury Bug.. the 2nd round pick helps some with taking on that risk. I think that the Sabres still say no. Reasons being, they know what they have in Moulson, less of an injury concern, The owners wouldn't care if he had to be bought out, there are only 2 years left on his contract instead of 3 years.. (there is a slight chance Vegas may take him... give us that Cap Space back right away) These scenarios have a huge impact on signing Echiel and Reinhart. Along with signing any UFAs or taking on cash at the trade deadline. I like the deal and if Callahan were to bounce back it could be a steal. But the new GM in Buffalo has said he wants to build thru the draft and you need cap space to sign those players so you don't lose them..
