I think it should be a qualifying vs not qualifying system. You can tender an ELC to a person on the reserve list if you choose to but if not they become UFAs like the current system. Even if it resulted in fox for like a year or two before walking, a system like that would have greatly improved his value to the organization.

I just don’t think rights should expire for college players. It’s an unfair advantage that lets players pick where they go. And that’s an opportunity only afforded to Americans and some Canadian born guys who chose to go that route. It’s unfair to the guys who don’t do that.

Can't blame wheeler for bailing the coyotes , but Kevin Hayes come on! Ridiculous. I have a feeling Matthew Knies is going down the road. NHL should implement update some rules.

I would laugh so hard if knies did that to the leafs. He would get the treatment KK got from montreal fans after signing an offer sheet they wouldn’t match.

Tbh carolina has such a deep pool, so many other guys could hit on their potential and those 3 miss and I would still be content. Gleb is my favorite prospect in the system but there are many other guys who could hit on their potential and be great players.

Is gleb the one where no scout knows if he can skate or not?

True. Where would an CHL guy go if they decided not to play with the NHL team that drafted them? I would imagine they would wind up in europe some how.

It was a good pick for what we needed at the time. Drafts are crap shoots so you’ll take the best available and hope they pan out.

I mean in a redraft Eichel may not even be the third center off the board. It’s insane to me that he went higher in that Jfresh fan survey then Barzal when he has accomplished literally nothing in the nhl. Hell he couldn’t win in juniors or college either. That **** is concerning. Like IK Mika would go higher than Barzal with the rangers bias but Jesus h Christ. Jack Eichel?

I don’t think they really can. They can go back into the draft but nobody does that.

I have only heard good things about his skating. From the video I have seen he is a good skater. Gleb is the guy who had a lot of disparity on his draft location. He was ranked 8th by some scouting organizations and 50s by others. To get him at 60 was a great pick for them. He’s an offensive dynamo. I haven’t seen anything I can remember talking down on his skating but I could be wrong.

IK there was one Russian in the second where skating was an issue. The others was effort maybe.

My only point is that Hanifin is underrated and eichel is overrated. Would u really swap Hanifin for eichel now? Not for the eichel package. Just eichel.

i think all of his knocks are from the talent level of the MHL. His skating knock comes from he is skating circles around everyone in the MHL so his skating has to be sub par. etc. etc.

IK there was one Russian in the second where skating was an issue. The others was effort maybe.

3 Russians were drafted in the second round. Artem duba, dimitri buchelnikov, and gleb trikozov. Trikozov had the questions about his compete. I would imagine buchelnikov was the one with skating issues as he is also a forward and picked 52nd vs 60th

              LOL.

i mean his attitude makes you hesitate more than you should for a 1C but he is still a 1C. Maybe not the top 5 guy we thought he would be but still a 1C.

Blake Wheeler and Kevin Hayes lol.

Shouldn’t be allowed. Every NHL player should have to play where they r drafted. Shouldn’t be able to be a **** and out wait the team that gave u a chance. Especially as a late round pick.

Yeah, people shouldn't be allowed to choose where they work and who they work for!

They could do a "retroactive draft" every so often, just to shuffle the deck. You might pick up some players that turned out to be good but you also might get some of your own good players taken. Sounds like something everyone would love, no?

And what about the teams who get ****ed over because of that? If you don’t want to play for the team that drafted you then don’t play at all. You shouldn’t get rewarded for telling the team that drafted you I won’t play here.

Fox wasn’t deciding between Starbucks and Panera. He forced his way to his childhood team at the expense of two NHL Franchises. I don’t blame him for doing it. It just shouldn’t be allowed. It’s about competitive balance. How much better off would Edmonton be with John Marino on the blue line? They drafted him. They did what they were supposed to do to add talent. And he just says no? Like what the **** is that?

Especially 1st round flops in jake bean (13th overall pick) and julien gauthier (21st overall pick) , could've had Chychrun and Kyrou.

Yea I've said a lot of good things about the canes scouting department, but a lot of their 1st rounders have been kinda hit or miss. One one hand you have Svech, Jarvis and Necas and on the other hand you have... Fleury, Bean, Gauthier and Ryan Murphy.
