That's a lot of money for a consistent 20-goal pace player, while it might be one or two years too long. Granted, Jersey had the money and the need, so I'm not surprised they made this signing and it will make them better. However, it will also limit their ability to get better later on.

Not really what I was looking for. Just b/c you have cap space doesn't mean you need to spend it.

The deal does not include any No-Trade protection and is front loaded with bonuses.

In other words, they made it as easy as possible to get out of the deal after 3-4 years…either by trade or buyout.

This is very welcome news to anyone worried about the 5-year term.

He’s not a bad player but the contract might not look so good in years 4 or 5

So far this signing has been a minor yikes

Not because Palat is a scrub but because he’s never healthy and even at the time this was too much term and money for a middle six winger
