Thomas is a great player. But you need to sign him to a bridge before you do this. If he keeps up the pace from last season and continues to grow it will be fine.

He's currently on a bridge deal, not on his ELC anymore
Great! So by your definition Thomas could have been bridged again!
He's two years away from UFA, so the only way he retains his RFA status after a 3rd contract is if that deal only is 1 year long, and I said I defined a bridge deal as being MULTI-year

We are basing this off of your definition of a bridge deal that I don’t necessarily agree with. Players get bridged to UFA all the time. UFAs even get bridged. I get it’s not a great idea but it happens. In this case with Thomas I’m bridging him before giving him an 8x8. If he wants 8 years I’m lowering that AAV.

I don't like the idea of using the term bridge with UFA's, it feels like it kind of goes against the fundamental means of how a "bridge" deal is most commonly used contextually
Feeling neutral on this one. The organization seems to believe he's the franchise center moving forward and I could see this aging fantastically, but that is certainly a huge commitment.
