Decent contract, only 2 years and Olofsson can walk, but solid in the mean time.

Olofsson is overrated and probably isn't worth this intrinsically but it makes sense for Buffalo so as far as bad contracts go this is pretty meh

I'm surprised he didn't want term after just being on a two year deal. Having a great career so far for a 7th round pick.

Gives him and the Sabres time to figure out where he fits. Hopefully he can become a top 6 wing.

Wanted more term, but we also have an absolutely loaded winger situation, both in the NHL/AHL and the pipeline. This sets up a trade in a year or year+ at the TDL I suppose.

But why George HW Bush?

Almost $5 million for a 20-goal scorer is high, but if he's willing to play in Buffalo, then they need to pay him.

My AGMs always had Olofsson for 3 years, 4.75 mil. Not too bad.

Adams has not signed a single player to a deal longer than 2 years (excluding ELC). I like that for a rebuilding team that is figuring out what they have in each of their young players and prospects. Olofsson had a fantastic season when he wasn't playing through injury. A fully-healthy Victor could have 30+ goals in an 82 game season, so that's good AAV and very little risk. If he walks to FA, his offense can be filled by the numerous prospects we will have clamoring for ice time in the NHL by 2024 (Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen, Kisakov, Nadeau etc.)
