Maybe extension talks with Ned aren't going so well? Who knows at this point.

Seems like a W for both teams.

If you want something, you go get it. Goalie market is thin, so instead of hoping in a bidding war, just get him now. DET wants to turn the corner, more quality not quantity

they needed a good platoon goalie. he played well for STL and probbaly sign like 3 yr 4 mil deal. can be flipped for more than a 3rd later . definitely a good move

Stevie has earned the benefit of the doubt, He knows what hes doing

Gives the wings another option if Ned doesnt bounceback to be a stop gap for Cossa

I'd say they are goign to keep both and let them play it out for the start role, wouldn't be a bad tandem at all.

I would also agree talks with Med must have hit a road block.

Uh he signed 3 years 4.75 and will platoon with Ned and this gives cossa time to develop without rushing him or commiting to a long term contract to block cossa. Don't see any downside here

Fine deal/extension for a team that needed a stop gap for 2-3 years in a year where the UFA goalie market is both thin and in demand.

Stevie gave up a 3rd for Ned last summer. He's buying time for Cossa who is likely 2 or 3 years away from being NHL ready. Stevie and Army are buddies from Team Canada so I'm not surprised they'd make a trade.

3 years 4.75 mil AAV Friedge is saying. Ned and Husso will split the starts most likely.

Gotta say I didn’t think Husso would get that kind of contract. Seems a bit high to me. I thought he’d get like 3 years 3.5m

Ned played 59 games last season and was still considered a rookie. There is no way he should've played that many games but with Greiss and Pickard there wasn't a better option. Trading a 3rd for his rights isn't that bad because the signed him to an extension right away and Detroit wasn't the only team interested in Husso. Plus Ned requested the trade to Detroit because his fiancé and family live in the area.
