I like the goaltending but the forward group is too soft and too small. Kerfoot and Engvall are not playoff type players. Kase is always injured, he's not reliable.

Muzzin isn't waiving for Detroit and Detroit isn't giving up a 2nd for a 33yr old dman

A late 2nd for a late third and Jake Muzzin who is still decent isn’t a bad trade for Detroit imo. Considering their left side consists of Jordan oesterle I don’t think this is the worst idea. He ideally won’t be on your top pair, but as a 2LD why not

This team is very skilled and fast, just like the Avs were who are kinda like, cup champs. Big heavy teams aren’t the way to go anymore. Also, every forward on this roster except for Nylander is balls to the wall on the forecheck, so they aren’t “soft”. Watch out for Robertson next year. He plays bigger than he is. If your definition of soft is fighting/hits, sure they’re not the best, but who cares about that

Wings pass, per usual. This is yzerman not Kyle Davidson. Nice try though

Avs were skilled, fast, big and nasty. Look at Nichushkin, Kadri, Landeskog in the top six, or Sturm and O'Connor in the bottom of the line up. They're not small guys. They hit people. Kerfoot, Kase, Engvall, and Robertson aren't hitting anyone. They don't punish guys in the corner, they don't go to the front of the net. The guy who threw the most hits for the Leafs in the first round was Matthews. That's a problem.

you also have to convince Muzzin to waive

Assuming he waives which I doubt he does he isn't worth giving up a 2nd even if a 3rd is coming back. Detroit is looking for a stop gap dman to give prospects time to develop and they won't have to give up more than a 3rd. Plus Detroit would have to get another dman to cover around 30 games because he hasn't played more than 53 games in 3 the last seasons.
