Bruins Go All in For Bergeron

Created by: koofyslappa
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 6, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Some thoughts before the draft and free agency.

I think that Bergeron will resign for a performance based contract, similar to Chara's back in the day. I believe that Krejci will also return on a similar contract based upon Cassidy being fired.

Bruins are looking to move up into the first round. I believe that they can get there with some sort of package including their second rounder, Grzelcyk, and Reilly possibly. Not sure how everyone values the 16OA but let me know.

Smith and Nosek can be great additions to any teams, the Bruins are just cap crunched right now. Craig Smith can still provide 15-20 goals a year while Nosek can play up and down the lineup as well as winning faceoffs.

Lazar deserves a raise for carrying the fourth line last year, while Ahcan resigns for two more years. Steen and Ahcan fill the empty spots in the lineup while McAvoy and Marchand are injured.

There has been talk about Trocheck joining the Bruins. He signs a reasonable contract 5.875m x 4 while Colin White tries to revive his career in Boston with a contract 2.233m x 3

DeBrusk stays on the top line due to his success in the last half of the season. Can possibly switch with Trocheck throughout the season.

I cannot see the Bruins being able to move Foligno, so they put him on load management.

Bruins make one last push for the Cup while acquiring some more picks in this years upcoming draft.

Let me know what you think.

sub out carlo for gryz, also trocheck isnt signing under 6m to play 3rd line minutes. if we're shedding cap we should find a way to get rid of forbort foligno coyle as well. i dont understand how these moves were made to shed cap but then we're also left with no room to extend pasta/call up players if needed

Bergeron just won the Selke, again, and put up 65 points in 73 games and won over 61% of his faceoffs. He has almost played 1,000 regular season games for the Bruins and you want him to have to sign a cheap 1 year performance related deal. That's gratitude for you I guess.

Bergeron isnt going to come back to do some 1st round tour again. He'll definitely take short money with bonuses if that can help improve their chances of winning before he hangs them up. Patrice Bergeron would rather have one last kick at the cup over a few million extra dollars, at least in my opinion he would.

Yeah, sure he would. I'm sure he will take a 3rd of what he could make elsewhere because of loyalty. Lets see it happen.

Whats your distaste in the idea that could happen or be a thing? lol. If you want to argue theres no point for him to take a cut to try and win in Boston then yeah I'd probably agree. Idk what they're gonna do to help improve this team to contender status. But I'm pretty sure Bergy is on record saying that he wouldn't play anywhere else. Not that its to be taken so literally that he would actually never go anywhere else, anythings possible. But imo its either he's in a Bruins jersey or retires.

I have no distaste for the idea. It would actually be refreshing to see an athlete sacrifice so much for a team, but when does that happen these days? How many examples are there of a guy signing for a fraction of what he is worth on the market to try to win a championship. Not many.
