Who would you draft and why? Discuss….

Slafkovsky and it's not close. Maybe there's an argument to trade back and take one of the two RHD. Don't see any argument in favour of Cooley over Slafkovsky rn, especially given New Jersey's needs

If I was NJ I would take Nemec. Pretty high floor with 1D upside. They're set at center already and can fill what slaf does in free agency (Forsberg/Nichuskin). This future D would be awesome:

Hughes-Nemec
Siegs-Dougie
Smith-Walsh
Bahl

Cooley. I think their ceilings are roughly the same but Cooley's floor is a lot higher. I think he ends up on the wing in NJ but he adds lineup versatility if the Devils have Jack or Nico go down. I think his IQ and skating make him both safer and more likely to hit his ceiling.

I like Slafkovsky, and will be totally hype for him when we inevitably take him, I personally just prefer Cooley.

I don't think team needs should factor into draft picks at all.

I think Cooley will be the best player in the draft. But I don't have any expectation that Fitz will draft him, it'll be Slafkovsky.

Its darn close, and I'd be happy with any of them, but for me, its probably:

1a. Slafkovsky
1b. Nemec
3a. Wright
3b. Cooley

I go back and forth on Nemec or Slafkovsky...and glad its not my call to make.
And I'd probably slot Wright there as tie with Cooley if he drops.

More interesting may be what we do with #37 pick if its not dealt.
Hopefully someone good falls to us there.
