Description
This is not what I want, it is what I predict Lou will do. Keep that in mind

I think that Lou senses that he has to win now. No time to waste and makes up for missing out on Panarin. I could see Nichushkin if Gaudreau does not want to come to NY.

Comrie is really good. Might cost a bit more but we really could use him.

Beauvillier's speed will really shine if he gets to play with Gaudreau and Barzal
Having 2 elite shooters with Lee's physicality and net front presence will work very well
Pageau and Palms were very good last year. It worked well with Parise but it is time for Bellows to get more minutes
4th line is a scrap. No way Lou shakes it up

Defense is obvious. Only spot up for debate is 2LD

Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Portillo, Erik [Reserve List]
  2. 2022 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Avs, Capitals, Leafs, Oilers, Sabres, Vegas are all potential suitors IMO. Avs make the most sense but Sabres seem most likely.

Portillo had solid stats and with UPL and Levi coming up, best off getting value for him now before he is wasted in the AHL
2.
NYI
  1. Ingram, Connor
  2. 2023 6th round pick (NSH)
NSH
  1. Bailey, Josh
Additional Details:
I am 50/50 on if he gets moved but it seems like he has to. We need cap space and he is one of the few players who we could move who do not have a NMC or NTC.

Potential suitors are Ottawa, Seattle, Arizona, Nashville or Chicago. While I do not think he is good, NHL GMs do. He is a well respected veteran who sure makes a good amount of money but does have solid (ish) production. Will Forsberg likely gone, Bailey seems like their best option as I doubt they land a single big FA.
3.
NYI
  1. Reilly, Mike
Additional Details:
Seems inevitable. Boston looking to shed cap and they have a surplus of defenseman with significant cap hits so he is on the way out
BOS
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (NYI)
4.
NYI
future considerations. they need roster players

Why would Portillo be wasted in the AHL, he's probably still a few years away. Hasn't even signed his ELC yet.

I’d rather have Wahlstrom with Gaudreau and Barzal they need a shooter and the Lee- Nelson- Beau line looked great last year

because the sabres are about a year away from having Levi and UPL be the 1-2 so no space for Portillo. I also expect the Sabres to build off of their late season surge and contend for a playoff spot by being big FA spenders.

Lee-Nelson-Beau was awesome but I feel as if lambert will want to utilize Beau in a bigger way. If we got Gaudreau, we would likely play around with the lines until something worked

Sabres don't know what they have in UPL, he can't stay healthy. The only way Portillo is traded is if he informs the Sabres he is going to FA. He still hasn't committed to going back to Michigan because of the investigation going on. Would not surprise me if he signs with the Sabres at prospect camp.

Portillo committed for his Junior season back in like April. It's Ryan Johnson who hasn't committed yet.

Yep, your right I forgot that. But he and the Sabres are still in communication and what I said is true about that situation.

Yea, I expect we may hear more on the status of a lot of the NCAA and Euro guys during or after prospect camp. 3 prospects for 2 long term spots and no solidified starter is a pretty good situation for a young goalie I would think. Plus he has connections to the team already with Power there, and 2 1st overall picks on the backend.
