I think MTL will wait to get a similar package to what Detroit got for Mantha.

That's pretty much a package similar in terms of value to what DET got imo.

I think what he means is Anderson alone should return that based on the Mantha trade. Mantha got a 1st + 2nd + Vrana + Panik (cap dump) equating that here Anderson for Halloway (Vrana) + 1st (1st) + Barrie (2nd + 3rd) + Kassian (larger cap dump). Montreal shouldn't need to add Mysak and a 2nd IF you are modeling after the Mantha trade.

I like Anderson for the Oilers, apparently I'm the only one though ahah. Not sure I love that particular trade though. Maybe if you drop the first and second round picks getting swapped?

Holloway + cap dump vs Anderson no salary retained isn’t enough for MTL IMO

If you switched Holloway for a much lower tier prospect than maybe

I don't follow. Anderson hasn't scored more than 20 goals or 40 points since 2018-19 and has only 0.46 points per game with Montreal. He's scoring like a middle-six and paid like a Top-6. How are Holloway and a cap dump not enough for him?

I'm not gonna speculate on what type of return Anderson would fetch, but he'd be a thing of beauty riding shotgun with McDavid and/or Draisaitl.

He’s a power forward who can skate shot dangle hit and he’s 6’3 227 lbs

He was MTL 2nd best goal scorer last year and 3rd this year
He played with a team with low offense but still manage to be one of our best goal scorer. Other GMs don’t look at points only, they look at what he brings on the table. Anderson problems are he can’t play defense and has a North/South game only

Look what Lehkonen brought
Anderson would bring a better return

So true. I think he could be Evander Kane 2.0
Imagine the kind of season he could have playing with an elite talent like McDavid. He could become a point a game player with 35+ goal upside. I think it's a huge gamble, but it could be amazing!

Those are two very important things Anderson is lacking for today's NHL. That means if Anderson isn't scoring well (and he hasn't been relative to his contract) he's a liability.

Lehkonen is/was also:

- 3.1m cheaper (2.4m cap hit)
- The better scorer last season compared to Anderson (29 pts in 58 vs. 32 pts in 69 w/Montreal)
- Able to play defense (60% dZone starts vs. Anderson's 45%)

That's why Lehkonen brought such a good return.

If Anderson was good defensively and not a liability, he wouldn’t have been traded

Lehkyis my guy, I ****ing love him, but players like Anderson are so rare that IMO he could fetch more than Lehky

I agree. I would say he's faster than Kane too, so flying down McDavid's wing would be quite a sight.

There's a reason why we love him in MTL, but I don't think his value or potential is maximized on a rebuilder. He could absolutely shine playing for a contender though, especially with C's as talented as the guys in Edmonton. If I'm acquiring him, my only hesitation would be about his health.

I guess we'll find out soon enough if he moves or not.

Cheers brother!

If a player is a liability, then they don't have good trade value and won't fetch you a good return.

As it stands now, Anderson is a below-average player vs. his AAV, that's not rare, that's pretty common. He's bad defensively, not scoring points to make up for his AAV and he's 27, you're not going to sell a GM on his future capabilities as if he's a prospect. You've got to sell him on what he's accomplished and how he has played recently.

Holloway is worth more than Vrana at the time of the trade and that 2023 first is precious af imo

Exactly, and Holloway is worth less than Vrana, but Anderson is 2 years older than Mantha.

Vrana had three 20+ goal seasons before he was traded. He was worth more than Holloway is worth now.

That makes no sense. The Oilers are only giving up Barrie and cap dump Kassian from the roster. Mcdavid doesnt care about prospects. At least make some sense with your negativity

Yes. They do need a power forward if they dont replace Kane. Anderson is one of the few in the ballpark forget about all the nonsense about his low point total. He scores goals, hes supposed to finish the McDavid high dangers chances, Pool Party couldnt do it. 8.8% is not good enough for high danger chances that Connor creates

He can do whatever he wants. He literally said that he gets squeezed at every opportunity and says keith wasnt coming for free. He complains about his job being too hard when questioned. The guy has already done more than enough to be fired yet hasnt

Any reasonable Oilers fan that doesnt think Holloway and Bourgault are coming into the lineup to become an elite 3rd line scoring a combined 100 pts with Keith retiring, thinks the same as you then there is the alternative
