As much as I would love this trade I'm not sure we could afford it unless Fiala and Dumba are moved. Which I do think is likely, but still. I think the Flyers could get more for TK anyways.

Are you seriously supporting a Goligoski trade?

If you mean supporting the idea of trading him, then absolutely. He played well to start the year but looked awful the last half of the season. I never would have extended him if I were GM. But if you mean supporting the value of Goligoski, then no, he does not have this much value.

Hmm, interesting. What are your thoughts on the John Merrill and Jordan Greenway extensions? Also, has your opinion on Ryan Hartman changed at all?

Merrill extension is maybe a tad more than what I would have liked, but it's not too bad. Depth D cost a decent amount these days and Merrill is fine on the bottom pairing. I'm lukewarm on the Greenway extension, he has played well on the GREEF line but I think Foligno and Ek are the real stars of that line. Contract is fair for what he provides. As for Hartman, anybody who tells you they saw the year he had coming is lying. I really liked the contract he signed at the time, and he greatly exceeded expectations this year and fit surprisingly well on that top line. I think he will regress next year, but even if he does he still provides a lot of value.

Yeah, I see Hartman regressing too, but like you, I still see him providing a decent amount of surplus value moving forward. Whether or not he can translate his talents to the playoffs again is another question. If Hartman doesn't have the season he just had, I wonder if the Wild make the playoffs, maybe they take one of the Wild Card spots

Greenway is definitely the weak link on the GREEF line that's for sure

I too was a bit suprised when John Merrill got an extension at above league min, even though he's been a nice fit over there. Someone definitely has to be moved if the Wild plan on trying to keep Middleton. I kind of assumed Kulikov would be the odd D-man out, but would be very interesting if it was Goligoski instead

Merrill is expensive, but at least can be buried in the AHL without a cap hit. It's a fair deal for what he is as a player.

I disagree with you on Greenway. He's the o-zone possession driver of the GREEF line. That o-zone possession is what makes them a quality shutdown line.

I still think Hartman is a 4C/3RW (on a good contract) that can play up if needed, and he spiked an incredible year. If the cap wasn't so tight for MN I'd be looking to trade him (ultimate sell high candidate due to his cap hit and production) this offseason. If he stays with Kap/Zucc next year he'll still put up really good numbers. Similar to P. Kane and the hodgepodge of centers he's had throughout his career in CHI.

Goli just signed a 2 year deal with a full NMC. He's not going anywhere, unfortunately. MN should have cut bait and let him walk, or re-sign him to a 1 year league min contract.

Gaudreau has been rumored for a few years to come back to Philly. He’s south Jersey which is right across the bridge from Philly so he’s be coming home. Flyers need skill / game changing talent and if it fails fletcher will be long gone.

I can see this being true for sure.

If it’s the leafs that works. I had this trade happening after a Gaudreau signing. Which means yea you’ll have to kind of give him away but he still holds value. Don’t think y’all need young forwards so didn’t think you guys would want him with his cap #.

He’s been in the rumor mill for a while. In this scenario he’s essentially the guy that has to go to make room for Gaudreau.

Thanks for the input y’all 🤙🤙🤙

Correct. He’d be the odd man out after signing Gaudreau. You have Atkinson, Tippett, Brink on RW. If JVR and Lindblom can be dumped, you have Farabee, and Laughton? On LW.

Need the cap space to fit Gaudreau. TK is the odd man out.

Trading TK isn’t the problem it’s the return. Not even a first? I read an offer of a ‘23 first, Hoglander and Woo from a Canuck fan that I would take.

I'm thinking at this point, with the combination of needing to shed cap because of adding Gaudreau and also (rumors) that he needs to mature a bit they'd have to get what they can for him and move on from his 5+ mil cap hit.

I mean I'd obviously take that offer from Vancouver but once they're over the cap I'm sure that offer would be downgraded.
