This real question is why would he stay in NYI? Like it or not Philly is a top destination team (along with other top franchises, ie PITT, NYR, TOR, DET, BOS etc just to name a few). In order for Tavares to sign with anyone besides NYI he'd want the best of both worlds, the money he's deserved and a chance to win. The Flyers have been clearing cap space for quite some time and the chance to win with that lineup is very possible. Regardless if you love or hate Philly (very polarising team, I'm aware) players love playing there. The likelihood JT goes UFA is very minimal but for fun this lineup is intriguing.

probably don't get Ghost that cheap for so long. 5 years or more and we're looking at Klingberg money at a minimum. We'd still have space, but probably not much left for Provorov/TK extensions. Good things is (and I know it doens't show yet) is that Myers contract slides so he isn't due for a raise/resigning until the season after Provorov/Sanheim.

I wouldn't mind getting JT I really don't think he leaves NYI. He should, but most 1C's don't ever leave their teams that drafted them.
