So the Flyers are trading their number 1 dman, a young, solid defensemen who is playing 24+ mins a game, who is admittedly having not a great season, for your top 2 picks from 2018 who really haven't shown any signs of living up to their draft positions?? And a fourth round pick?

These talks would have to start with that 4th becoming a 1st at the very least.

True - Like I said, don't kill me on the minor pieces. Was just trying to think of a Drouin / Serg type deal. Provorov was what I could think of. Keep hearing that PHI was choosing between Sanhiem and Provie. Just thinking his down season would have been a good time for Yzerman to jump at him.

I don’t think anyone is giving a 1st+ for provorov when he is payed like a 1D and plays like a 3/4D (and one with a down year at that). Especially a top 10 first. Maybe a high second as the starting point, with additional prospects included.

That said, the bid above is also significantly under value.

I might give up a 1st for Provorov. I'd take him over Pettersson or Schmidt.

I disagree, i think a lot of teams would give a 1st+ for Provy. The kid is on a sinking ship with legit no help around him, and at 25 how the hell can he carry a whole d corps. Put Makar on our defense and he probably looks bad too. Any defense with Keith Yandle, Nick Seeler, Kevin Connauton, several random rookies, and Justin Braun featured as a top pair d man, and anyone is gonna have a bad year. Provy has actually started to look better with York, who even though is a rookie, seems to be a competent d man.

Philly would be wrong for quitting on Provy young in my opinion. I'd trade him for the right deal but not sure if that deal is out there.

Yup. Like, I don't think you'd find a single person who'd be worried about him performing similarly next season if he were next to Moritz Seider. Hell, Provorov is 25 and he's had a couple of seasons where by the end of the year he had performed like a top-15 defenseman in the league. This notion that he isn't worth much is nuts

Agreed. Massively. But it's the Flyers. So they'll do it anyways because they never learn.

It really is the truth, but as a typical Flyers fan, I have faith. It really cannot be understated how huge Ryan Ellis being healthy matters to this team. You either have your top pairing RH dman or you don't, and they don't grow on trees thats for sure. It helps Provy, it helps the whole d corps to be honest. Can allow York to be slotted correctly, can help shelter Risto, really just rounds out the defense. And in the first few games last year, he looked like the Ryan Ellis of old, cool, calm, collected. Really pray he stays healthy for the remainder of his time here.

Getting Coots and Hayes to 100% also is huge for the lineup. I feel like we had some bad luck this year coupled with horrible coaching. If we can get our players back healthy, and a coach who knows what he's doing, i think we can certainly rebound and make the playoffs again. However, with that said, it's up to CF to find a coach who can cater to the make up of our roster. My first choice would be reaching to Joel Quenneville, see if he wants to come back. My 2nd choice would be Jim Montgomery actually, bearing his time in St Louis help him realize that he can't be drunk all the time. I think he's an excellent coach.
