I think you could argue Gardiner is better than Myers, so that deal doesn't feel fair.
Marner won't be playing center anytime soon.
No need for Vertseeg or 2.5m dollar 5th liner in King
Also not sure we need a Vatanen, I feel like Zaitsev is similar

but you can counter that Petan holds more value than Bozak. A 22 year old decent prospect/young player for a 31 year old yet respectable player 1 year away from UFA. The fact that Petan is still RFA controlled vs a guy who probably won't resign with the Leafs in an effort to keep cap space open for future Matthews/Marner/Nylander contract. Its probably fair when you balance it all out

    1. Can live with Vatanen trade.

    2. Myers trade seems unnecessary when we've already made Vatanen trade. We won't be able to afford Myers when he needs to be resigned in a couple of years.

    3. You have really overpaid Brown here, he won't top $3M on this contract.

    4. Do we not have to compensate Was for signing Orlov to an offer sheet? I'm assuming that how he showed up. I'd rather just keep Gardiner. Grass isn't always greener.

    5. We have plenty of in house options that as good or better then Versteeg and especially King.

    6. Your lines make zero sense, and Marner will never be a C in the NHL, sometimes coaches tell the truth when they speak.

Zero chance that Bob Murray trades 3 years of Vatanen for 1 year of JVR, It would probably take Kapanen and a pick for either Fowler/Vatanen nothing less.

If Fowler plays RHD which I think he does, I feel like he would be a good target for the leafs.

Don't Fowler and JVR have the same term left on their contracts? Something around those two could work with adds on both sides if necessary. Both teams probably trade those players for picks/prospects this summer or trade deadline anyways. Could give them an upgrade at a position of need (depending on how the young LWs on the Ducks do this playoff) while both teams could have the option of signing them if the fit is right.

Leafs already have one over paid 4th line winger, we don't need another. Why pay Versteeg 3 million to play on the 3rd line when you have Hyman for almost half that. Why would we give up draft picks, when the leafs really don't have any important players they can lose in the expansion draft. I really doubt they will pay Brown that much for that long.
