I think it would take significantly more than that to acquire Husso and Ken Holland has said he doesn't want to part with top draft picks. If the Oilers were to take a legit swing at a goalie, I wonder if Seattle's Chris Dreigder would be considered an option. Seattle would have to be willing to sell on him, but he is signed to a reasonable deal and he did have a great year last year in a tandem role.

Unless the Oilers offer something beyond stupid, it's not happening. As of right now, Husso is the starter and the Blues are contending. And as always, Army is NEVER going to solve a problem for a potential West playoff opponent.

I'd say Husso is a move for the offseason. Very unrealistic for the blue to give him up when they are focused on trying to make a run for the cup

Ville Husso is 27 and has played fewer than 40 career games. This is a ridiculous overreaction to 17 great games, don't you think?

If edmonton can't land established goaltenders then they have to go after younger ones with promise.

They tried this before - spending "established" prices on "promise". Remember Griffin Reinhart? This is a terrible idea. If you want to go after potential than pay accordingly.

Dreigder has a M-NTC so there is a chance the Oilers are on his NT list. He is intriguing tho, he could be a good option for a 50/50 start split with Skinner next yr.

Blues won't trade Husso during the season because they are trying to compete. if that means we lose Husso in Free Agency then we lose him and wish him the best of luck smile

that's a realistic view from other teams point of view. Blues don't want to be stuck to Binnington and a different guy right now so realistically from Blues perspective you get all you can and want out of him now.

can't ask for a 3 year extension and call him a UFA at the same time. Blues probably extend him to that deal anyway.

If Stuart Skinner went 11-3-1 in his next 15 starts with a .939 sv% and 18 goals saved above expected, and the Oilers were in a playoff spot, would you trade him for picks?

So this would suggest smith retires and run with husso and skinner next year? Wouldn’t that be career suicide for Holland betting on a tandem that doesn’t even have 100 games of experience when that’s been a focal point for a few years? Gotta have a veteran to split the job with skinner.

I think they could run all 3 of smith skinner husso. Also possible smith LTIRetires.

3 goalies isn’t sub stainable for any length of time. Idk about smith retiring kinda looks like an option for normal people but it’s Mike Smith he might end up signing an extension playing another 3 years. Every time start to question anything about smith he comes back and looks like a 25 year old kid taking over and moves the puck up ice better than the d. Saying a lot with Bouchard and Barrie on the team.

Smith's injuries have caught up to him he is definitely done after this contract. He never really returns to full health anymore just to the point where the injuries are tolerable.

Smith is a strange human. He might very well be done after his contract I doubt before. Wouldn’t put it past either of him or Holland to want to keep going. Not saying that’s ok or best just know he’s extremely valued by the organization.
