In 2021, all these players were the second, third, fourth, and fifth most traded players for Armchair-GMs. Every single person doing an armchair-gm for the leafs trade one of these players to clear cap space, so they can do a huge trade. Except, everytime you do so, someone in the comments either says, "we don't want this guy," or "no way we're paying X-round pick for this player." That being said, what is the actual value for these players? As for Ritchie, what do we have to give up to get rid of him? (Also I forgot to put Mrazek on the title)
IMO:
Kerfoot - late to mid second-round pick
Holl - early to mid third-round pick
Dermott - a fourth round pick
Mrazek - a fourth round pick
Engvall - a seventh round pick
Ritchie - a third plus Ritchie for future considerations
Generally speaking on CF the community tends to undervalue the Leafs assets (and then go ape **** when we get their actual value for them in a real trade).
For example:
Kerfoot. Kapanen got a 15th ovr and more for a 40 point year. Now he has that speed factor so I'd imagine that inflates him a little. Mango was confirmed to be offered a 2nd after a 20 point (40 point pace) year.
Kerfoot is on a 59 point pace. He will net a 1st or equivalent.
Holl is a little strange. The kind of teams who would be wanting him will tend to have high draft picks. Intrinsically I'd say his value is that of a mid 2nd or equivalent, but the market will likely deviate on that a great deal. If you can get someone desperate (like Holland) you may be able to get their mid to high 2nd this year, otherwise you are likely looking at a 3rd and something else.
Dermott 3rd rounder. He is a guy and is decent at being a guy. That tends to net a 3rd.
Mrazek Goalie markets are weird because it is done on an as needs basis. That tends to depress high end value and increase low end value. I have no idea but it will be reasonable - certainly not having to pay and will likely be a
notable asset coming our way.
Engval His value is
far greater intrinsically than on the trade market, don't move him.
Ritchie will likely be the Martin trade, so expect Aemon McAdam in return
Anyway most of these guys won't be moving in season. So with maybe 1 exception for Ritchie and MAYBE Kerf in the event of a huge trade you should be thinking in terms of draft floor trades.
