By the time Gretzky was 25 his Oilers had already won a cup and lost a cup. Its not really fair for McDavid to live in that shadow as he will never be Gretzky. So yes this is a good trade and a fresh start for McDavid.

If he demands a trade, they lose that leverage for Aho. They're still getting Svechnikov, so it's not like there's no one in return here...

At this situation where CAR acquires McDavid I'd probably keep Svechnikov over Aho due to his term and position. Aho has only 2,5 years left, Svechnikov has five more. He'd be great support to McDavid's wing.

oilers definitely get worse, but its just a stop gap til he comes home when his contract is up

KK is a UFA this summer since he's not going to be qualified. So the trade is really Svech, the two firsts, hopefully Drury is an NHLer next season, and more long shots with Suzuki and Morrow.

well you never know if KK would take a lesser deal since hes doing meh
