Also 4 years on the Batherson deal is the worst possible option for Ottawa. 4 years walks him right into his UFA year, which gives him more leverage for his next deal, as he could potentially leave for nothing. Its either a bridge deal at 2 years (not 3 for basically the same reason as 4, he'd be one year from UFA and could simply sign a one year deal) or its a bigger deal at 6-8 years. My personal preference would be a 2 year deal for him to show he can replicate that level of success, but I think Ottawa will opt for the cost certainty of a long term deal. My guess is 6 years at like 5.1mil or something there about.

I agree on both, but as someone who knows the insides of the organization well, this is what I see happening. The Brady contract is hopeful, but I don't truly expect a 8 year deal.
