Elliotte Friedman said on his podcast that he is re-signing with the isles - the deal is 2.5 x 6. It’s not official because Lou lamoriello doesn’t want teams to know how much cap space he has

No we don't. I don't see the point in Niku though, you keep him and Detroit keeps their 4th. Copp for 2nd rd pick straight up and you got a deal.

I added Niku just cause the kid needs a fresh start somewhere. He's basically been pushed down the depth chart the last two years after looking promising. Thought DET could offer him some playing time

We have a REALLY deep defensive pipeline right now, so there are more prospects in our system we'd want to give a look first, so Detroit really isn't a fit for that right now...
