As a Leaf fan, I hope JVR and Komarov are not longer Leafs in 2018. Time to move on. Hyman, Zaitsev should get more money. Carrick. Leivo will have completed their initial bridge deals. If they're good enough to warrant another contract they should be getting more $$$$$. Connor Brown not on the team?

Doesn't seem like much cap management has occurred... Or asset management... Did Bozak leave as ufa? No qualifying offer for brown?

With the emergence of Leivo, and Leipsic proving to be capable of scoring goals in the AHL they should be alright. I'm not saying JVR can't/won't be on the team, but I can't see it. Carlsson's contract is a little rich, he might not be a bad player to target though.



I hope Zaitsev doesn't get too much more, It's hard to gauge the pricing market but look at some of the bargain contracts (Shattenkirk was making 4.25m, Alzner is making 2.8m and Carlsson isn't making much more). I think Zaitsev is better suited as a 3/4 defenseman, and to be paying north of 4.5m is just a bit too much

LeafFan. Yes it hard to gauge. You call Zaitsev a 3/4 guy (I never really understand what those ratings mean). But he does play the PP and the PK. In Leaf land he's a # 1 RHD.
I sure his agent says Petry makes 5.5m as a number #3 guy, Sekera makes 5.5m. Vatanen 4.8m, Orpik 5.5m. The top three Winnipeg Dman make 7.6, 5.6, and 5.5. Gee, 4.6m look like a bargain.
