Atkinson is the better goal scorer and Voracek the better passer. Atkinson is a fair bit cheaper on aav but 4 years left vs 3.
Clb probably got the better player at this point in their careers but it's not clear. They took the gamble of a much larger aav for a year less AND someone they probably hope will click with Laine.
Philly cleared a good chunk of cap and still got a good winger.
Trade is a little odd on the surface but I think has the potential to be a good "hockey trade"
Voracek is younger than Cam. Also Voracek has less term and has been really productive in his past 3 seasons, for me Columbus wins this deal.
They are 2 months apart in age; immaterial difference. Both are entering their age 32 season. I voted Philly as the winner, but I don't think it's necessarily bad for Columbus. 28% cheaper contract to Philly but 1 more year, which is mitigated by that well trodden LTIR path as necessary. I'd have expected Columbus to grab a mid round pick (maybe a 3rd?) just for the cap relief.
Flyers knocked it out of the park here. Not only does Cam make far less money, his contract isn't loaded with bonus money. He can probably be bought out at some point, if needed.
Idk why Columbus would even consider this. Jarmo has gone back to his old ways High IQ lasted for 12 hours. We'll see how it works in the future though.
I think Voracek is the better player and could be the player he used to be, but why would Columbus do this trade now? They aren’t exactly making moves to win now.

I'm sorry but you are completely wrong.

Because they need a playmaker to set up Laine.
This also shows why that won't work in Columbus favor.
