Sakic, Joe Sakic

Created by: Skywalker87
Team: 2016-17 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 17, 2017
Published: Feb. 17, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
ELC'S ~ meloche, beaudin, butcher, mironov. Jost doesn't because I think he will do one more years at UND.
Draft ~ Nolan Patrick (then gets ELC) we also draft a defense in the first round because of a duchene trade. Based on standings I will go with maker (if hes there) cal foote, then hauge.

TDL ~ iggy, grigs, weirco, rbourque and tyutin will be dealt. Most likely with picks coming back maybe a prospect. If they can move beau they will but I doubt it. Comeau could easily move as well.

AHL call ups ~ compher, rocco, g-Bourque and garidi. Greer is possible but I think he needs a little more seasoning.

Sakic isn't going to get what he's asking for Duchene; he isn't that good. Hanifin is supposed to be an elite defender and wouldn't be going anywhere, maybe a trade for Fleury and Lindholm scratch the draft pick.

Why wouldn't he? Hanifin has been a healthy scratch this year, playing less minutes and you have players in the pipe line to replace him. Duchene does not get you a struggling ahl d prospect. And a struggling 3rd liner. He gets you a top 4 d (hanifin) a first and something else. If flurey was the defense we get, aho and first will be the trade then. I'm not saying Carolina will pay it, but they are the best option and fit for both parties.

I think butcher, beaudin and meloche will start in the ahl. Get the full year. Mironov probably will make the team. Be a HS for the first bit then be in the 3rd pairing d with bigras or someone else. I really want jost to sign as well but I think it's best for him to do und one more year. Get compher, Patrick, rocco and Greer going in 2018

Look at Lindholm. At age 22, he's a younger an cheaper than Duchene. And you could argue he is almost at the playing level as Duchene. And the Avs want Hanifan and a lottery pick too?
The Barrie trade doesn't help Tampa's cap situation. Barrie makes more than Garrison for a longer period.

Hanifin is 19 years old and going through a rough sophomore slump. He has been scratched only once that i can remember after he had one really bad game. Who do we have in the pipeline to replace him, if Fluery is a "struggling ahl prospect?" Lindholm was struggling a bit, but has been PPG since returning from a concussion, and Aho is for sure the brightest spot in our pipeline as far as forwards go. Aho is the definition of untouchable on this team. If Hanifin is the player you want, then okay... but I doubt anything else comes with him, and especially not for anyone with only 2 years of term left. Duchene would be a killer addition and I would kill to have him. He is exactly what we need, but the Canes aren't in a position to be trading for rental pieces.
