I can't imagine a world where Landy takes 7mil. That could be his "take less to win in COL" price (not sure how those negotiations are going), but if he's chasing his big payday, he's getting north of 8 imo. Point per game power wingers who contribute in all zones don't come cheap.

Giving up two seasons of Dumoulin and a 2nd round pick for one season of Morgan Rielly (and then losing him as a UFA) is not a good deal for Pittsburgh.

The penguins wouldn't do that if you removed ZAR and the pick.
You're not getting a cost controlled solid 1LD who can actually play defense.

I'm banking Brian Burke wanting Rielly bad enough to influence the trade and attempt to lock him up long-term. Mikheyev is also exempt from the Expansion Draft so that's really valuable, too. It'll enable the Penguins to protect McCann whose been great for them.

That's the rationale behind it.
