So if I’m understanding this, Detroit retains 5.5M (2 years at roughly 2.75M) plus take on Koskinen for a second round pick?

Two 2nds and a late round pick. To take on cap when they aren’t going to be competitive. Keith retention is for two years and Koskinen is up next summer and I don’t think the wings will be near the playoffs in the Atlantic
Not saying that’s the value but getting a third team involved could make it go through smoother

The 2nd for retention on Keith ok I'm good with that and I think it is fair. Why would Detroit take Koskinen for free?

That makes sense but Koskinen isn't an upgrade over Detroit's goalies so that makes him a cap dump.

I think he means we would also be getting a second from Edmonton for Koskinen.

Wings would get 2nds from both Hawks and Oilers

Yes I'd do it for 2 2nd rd picks. In fact I'd do it for a 2nd and a 3rd.
