He just signed for 5.25x8. Good contract. He’s real good defensively and improving offensively.

Consistent .5 ppg and selke vote worthy defense seasons would make this a great contract.

I think it’s a bit steep for a guy who’s career high is 30 points.

That being said, if he can build off his past year it should turn out okay.

Depends on how his game progresses. Does he stay about where he’s at now? If so, likely a bit overpaid. If he continues to improve defensively, and maybe reach around 45 pts a year then it’s a good deal. If he becomes elite defensively and puts up 45+ pts it’s a great deal.

Too early to say, I hate 8 year deals especially with this small of a sample size.

Going to look good if they can find the 1c to insulate a little and find some good matchups. With more around them that greenway ek and foligno could have had quite a playoff run. Gm doing good things, but tough with parise and suter anchors around with 4 year terms left.

Yeah it seems a little high right now, but there’s a good chance it becomes a steal in a couple years if he can become a 50-60 point threat and keep up the Selke votes

He's one of the best two way c in the game today. Players like mark stone, & eichel hate him
.joel Eriksson Ek was / is so good ,, teams like vegas planned ways to make sure he's not on c when superstars like mark stone are

He's like Koivu, except he gets under players skin and finds ways to piss them off. Really happy to see him signed long term!

The money is about what I had him getting. I thought it would be like a 6 year deal though. 8 just seems so long. No clauses is a good thing. I want to like this deal, but am on the fence right now.

His d-zone game should age okay, so if the offense isn't there he'll just be an overpayed 3C. If his offense is there then this will be a steal of a contract.
